A vertebrate, the fence skink, is a common but relatively low-quality prey for an invertebrate predator, the redback spider

چکیده
Many predators feed on a diversity of prey items and the traits these can affect their quality for predators. While invertebrate most often other invertebrates, numerous studies have documented spiders predatory arthropods feeding vertebrates. The goal this study was to examine frequency fence skinks, Cryptoblepharus virgatus, in diet redback spiders, Latrodectus hasselti, measure amounts ratio nutrients that extracted from skinks compared representative high-quality (i.e., locust) low-quality beetle) arthropod prey. In field surveys, represented 8% individual 17% biomass captured by spiders. trials, consumed lower total dry mass lipid when relative both lowest protein beetles. terms efficiency, were efficient at extracting mass, locusts least (lipid) or beetles (dry protein). There also differences trace element consumption between versus locusts. These results suggest are relatively urban is likely consequence abundance habitat, similar microhabitat selection indiscriminate predation Further work needed vertebrates invertebrates if such as predator mode affects

The Dynamical Analysis of a Delayed Prey-Predator Model with a Refuge-Stage Structure Prey Population
A mathematical model describing the dynamics of a delayed stage structure prey - predator system with prey refuge is considered. The existence, uniqueness and bounded- ness of the solution are discussed. All the feasibl e equilibrium points are determined. The stability analysis of them are investigated. By employ ing the time delay as the bifurcation parame...

The Lotka-Volterra Predator-Prey Equations
One may find out the application of mathematics in the areas of ecology, biology, environmental sciences etc. Mathematics is particulary used in the problem of predator-prey known as lotka-Volterra predator-prey equations. Indeed, differential equations is employed very much in many areas of other sciences. However, most of natural problems involve some unknown functions...

Crab-spiders (Thomisus onustus) positioned for hunting on flowers disguise themselves by assuming the same colour as the flower, a strategy that is assumed to fool both bird predators and insect prey. But although this mimicry is obvious to the human observer, it has never been examined with respect to different visual systems. Here we show that when female crab-spiders mimic different flower s...
متن کاملDynamical behavior of a stage structured prey-predator model
In this paper, a new stage structured prey-predator model with linear functional response is proposed and studied. The stages for prey have been considered. The proposed mathematical model consists of three nonlinear ordinary differential equations to describe the interaction among juvenile prey, adult prey and predator populations. The model is analyzed by using linear stability analysis to ob...
